Last May I made my first journey to Moss Mountain Farm, the garden home of gardening, lifestyle and design expert, P. Allen Smith, as part of an entourage of lucky bloggers. For the past several years, Allen has hosted this special event that brings together a small group of fanatical garden and lifestyle bloggers along with sponsors from some of the country’s top names in food and gardening—Proven Winners, Le Creuset and Bonnie Plants, to name just a few. Garden2Blog is a 2-day adrenaline rush of learning, laughter and bonding where we tour beautiful homes and gardens, talk social media and discuss the newest garden trends and products. I’m so excited to be invited back to Garden2Blog 2013!
Our home away from home is the historic and luxurious Capital Hotel in Little Rock, where service and attention to detail is unsurpassed.
Guided by Allen, we descend upon the best of Little Rock, cameras in hand and spirits high! This is the music room at the beautiful Marlsgate Plantation, home of storyteller extraordinaire, David Garner. This year we’ll visit the governor’s mansion and tour the gardens, which were designed by Allen.
A visit to Allen’s city home and garden, known as Gaines, was a highlight of the trip last year. Allen bought the house for a dollar and saved it from being destroyed. My hero!
I loved the little garden shed at the entrance to the edibles garden.
We spent an entire day at Moss Mountain Farm, Allen’s garden home retreat, where touring the gardens is serious business!
But we also had plenty of time for goofy fun.
Decadent food is plentiful. This is Allen’s Buttermilk Pecan Pie, which made several bloggers faint from pleasure. Here’s the recipe!
We get up close and personal with Allen.
And make forever friends!
I can’t wait to go back this year and meet up with blogger friends, old and new. See you in May!
